The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 1981 with pre-degree classes and degree department in the year 1993 with the commencement of B.Sc. Physics with Mathematics and chemistry as subsidiary subjects. In 1998 B.Sc. Polymer Chemistry was started with Mathematics and physics as subsidiary subjects. The course started with four teaching staff members and two Laboratory Assistants. The Department have provided with three spacious classrooms and two laboratories with an intake of 20 students. The department has provided necessary help to equip the laboratories of the nearby higher secondary schools and newly started colleges.
